FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ABSOLUTE!, INC. LIVE ON DELTEK VISION 6.1
Minneapolis, MN, December 1, 2010 – Absolute!, Inc. upgraded from Deltek Vision 5.1 to 6.1 today. “It was a seamless transition, due to the detailed and thorough testing executed by our staff,” says Kent Jacobson, CEO of Absolute!
The journey to 6.1 was not without its issues, but Absolute took them as challenges, not roadblocks. “We have a couple of customizations that could not easily transition to the new version due to backbone technology changes,” says Tom Severson, Director of Operations. These customizations were rewritten to function similarly to the original customizations by referencing a separate URL.
For example, one customization allows employees to see all of their comments as they enter them into timesheets. Previously performed by clicking a Comments button, these are now performed by accessing a URL available as a hyperlink on employees’ Vision dashboards. “We’re a consulting firm so our timesheets are paramount. It’s important that they tell a story and include as much detail as possible,” says Kim Jacobson, Controller and Project Manager of the upgrade initiative.
Absolute sponsors a user-based website: www.teamabsolute.info where they encourage Vision users to share their experiences with the software. The outcomes of their project debrief: lessons learned, shortcuts, critical areas of testing will be blogged on the website. “It’s our hope that other companies can leverage our experience. Anything we can do to strengthen the Vision community benefits us all,” says Severson.
