ABSOLUTE, INC. NAMES WINNER OF FREE LAWSON V9 APPLICATIONS UPGRADE
Minneapolis, MN, January 15, 2010 – Absolute, Inc. announced St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Care Center of Syracuse, NY the winner of their 2010 v9.x application upgrade giveaway, worth up to $50,000. Vivian Silliman, the St. Joseph employee who registered to win the free upgrade, was "thrilled" with her win. "We have some analysis to do first, but we’re thrilled to win and excited to get started," Silliman said.
Absolute offered the prize to Lawson clients meeting certain criteria through an online registration on their website, www.teamabsolute.com. "We see it as a way to thank our current customers and welcome new ones, and of course to reinforce our niche in the Lawson market: performing upgrades", said DJ Weisenberger, Business Development Manager at Absolute.
This isn’t the first time Absolute has given away Lawson upgrade services. Last year, Ameritas Holding Company of Cincinnati, OH was the 2009 winner. Absolute plans on making the upgrade contest an annual event.

Absolute!, Inc. a leading service provider to the Lawson Software, Deltek and IT services industry, is pleased to announce that it has recently received the highest possible rating for an independent service auditor’s review, commonly known as a SAS-70 Type II audit, of its general controls supporting the hosting and remote servicing offerings. SAS-70 is an acronym for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Statement on Auditing Standard (SAS) No. 70, titled “Reports on the Processing of Transactions by Service Organizations.” SAS No. 70 defines the professional standards used by a service auditor to assess the internal controls of a service organization and issue a service auditor’s report.
The SAS-70 audit report is designed to provide clients with a certain level of assurance regarding the controls that are maintained by Absolute! management. The SAS-70 report addresses all five components of internal control outlined in the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, namely the control environment, risk assessment activities, control activities, information and communication systems, and monitoring activities. The structure of the report is intuitive and designed to be incorporated well with clients’ Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs.
In order to complete the audit, Absolute!’s management provided proof of the control objectives being in place and correctly managed for a twelve month control period for the significant areas of internal control that support Absolute!’s services. The control objectives addressed each of the following areas: Administration, Human Resources Security, Physical Access, Environment Security, Backup and Recovery, Offsite Data Storage, Computer Operations, Logical Access, Disaster Recovery Preparedness, Secure Storage, Media and Document Destruction, Application Development/Change Process and Support Operations. Absolute! annually updates its audits and consistently passes with the highest rating.
A nationally recognized independent auditing firm performed extensive testing of the control activities that have been implemented by Absolute! to help ensure that our control objectives were met. Following this rigorous examination, the auditing firm was able to issue a positive opinion regarding each of the areas described above on behalf of Absolute!. Such an opinion states that the auditor has verified Absolute! had no relevant exceptions, followed all control practices appropriately, and that the findings were an accurate representation of the company's condition.
