SAS70 DEFINED
Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No.70, Service Organizations, is an
internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
SAS70 Certification indicates that a service organization has been through an
in-depth, independent audit of their control activities, which generally
include controls over information technology and related processes.
TYPE I & TYPE II
A Type I Certification Report includes:
- Independent service auditor's report/opinion
- Service organization's description of controls
A Type II Certification Report also includes:
- Description of the service auditor's tests of operating effectiveness and the
results of those tests
